Inaugural International Autonomous Biennale (or Cf) @ The Research Pavilion, Venice

September 29th – October 1st 2017.

My contribution to Cf is prompted by ‘Repeal the 8th,’ the Irish Pro-Choice campaign for free, safe and legal abortion access for women in Ireland.

Part 1:

Marie Farrington traces the route of the March for Choice in Dublin on 30th September one hour before the official march is scheduled to start, bridging the time difference between Dublin and Venice in order for the walk to coincide with the first iteration of Cf.

Part 2:

A digital ‘pavilion’ by Marie Farrington will become available for download here from 1st October, containing photographic documentation of the walk and an essay that takes this performative action as a starting point to think through the iconography of the REPEAL movement and the enacting of language embedded in the campaign’s distinctive sweatshirt. The essay will then consider the performative nature of language and the equivalence of saying and doing.

‘Cf’ is an international project, initiated by artist Jeanette Doyle (Ireland) for GradCAM @ The Research Pavilion, Venice Biennale, September 29th – October 1st  2017.
